MY PLATFORM

Building on the work of the previous term of Council, these are the items that I hope to accomplish going forward:

TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY

• Continue to use technology to increase transparency and accountability to residents.

 

FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP

• Continue disciplined financial management.

• Complete implementation of a robust Asset Management Plan, using a “total life cycle cost model” for all roads, buildings, and services.

 

ENVIRONMENT

• Continue to improve diversion from our depleting landfill by implementing options for organic waste.

• Protect and enhance tree cover and natural vegetation on public lands.

 

EDUCATION

• Continue to work with local and provincial partners to lobby the Ministry of Education to preserve and enhance the role of schools in our communities.

• Continue to champion school boards and municipalities working together.

 

PARTNERSHIPS

• Implement more shared service agreements with our neighbours.

• Grow our renewed relationship with Akwesasne and implement the joint plan to recognize the significance of Cairn Island to both communities.

RECREATION

• Continue to partner with community groups to ensure access to recreational activities for all.

• Move on recommendations from Recreation Master Plan, including a public boat launch and further renovations at Char-Lan arena.          

 

HOUSING & GROWTH

• Continue lobbying for funding for critical infrastructure projects, such as increases to water and wastewater plants in Glen Walter to permit housing plans that are currently shelved.

• Continue advocating for expansion of cellular, internet and natural gas to support our residents and help our farms and businesses grow.
